Good morning,
The City of Houston will rescind Stage Two of the City's Drought Contingency Plan and return to Stage One, effective December 14, 2023.
The City of Houston Code of Ordinances states that a Stage Two water shortage ends when the mayor, upon the recommendation of Houston Public Works, declares that the severe conditions no longer exist. Due to the increased rainfall and a drop in daily temperatures, the severe conditions requiring the implementation of Stage Two of the Drought Contingency Plan have been mitigated.
Stage One drought response calls for the following voluntary water conservation efforts:
- Limit outdoor watering to twice a week between the hours of 7PM and 5AM with the following schedule:
- Sundays and Thursdays for single-family residential customers with even-numbered street addresses
- Saturdays and Wednesdays for single-family residential customers with odd-numbered street addresses
- Tuesdays and Fridays for all other customers
Additional information will be sent next week regarding the suspension of the minimum take amount of water under your water supply contract, if applicable.
If you have questions regarding your specific situation, please email watercontracts@houstontx.gov and our team will assist.
Thank you.
